A basic touch screen is a touch sensor, a controller and a software driver as the three main components. The touch screen needs to be combined with a monitor and a personal computer to form a touch screen system.
Touch Sensor
The sensor usually has a current or signal passing through it, and touching the screen causes a change in the signal. This change is used to determine where the screen is touched.
Controller
A controller will be connected between the touch sensor and the PC. It takes information from the sensor and converts it to be used to understand the PC. the controller determines what type of connection is needed.
Software Driver
It allows the PC and the touch screen to work together. It tells the OS how to interact with the touch event information sent from the controller.

Using touch lcd technology for remote control, RTP touch screens are one of the simplest CPU interfaces for a large number of electronic digital applications. Touchscreens are useful for easily accessing information by simply touching the display. Touch screen device systems are useful in everything from industrial process control to home automation.
